  • salt - 1 Tbsp
  • buttermilk - 1 qt
  • oatmeal - 1 2
  • honey - 1 c
  • salad oil - 1 c
  • lukewarm water - 1 c
  • dry yeast 4 pkg - 4 Tbsp
  • high gluten flour
  • whole wheat flour as desired - 2 4

How to make honey oatmeal bread:

In large bowl, dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Warm slightly the buttermilk, honey and oil until honey is dissolved. Add to yeast mixture. Mix in the oatmeal, high gluten flour and whole wheat flour; mix well. Let set 5 minutes to let liquids soak in. Add enough white flour to make dough manageable. Knead on floured surface until smooth and elastic. Let rise in bowl until double; punch down. Let rise again. Form into 4 loaves. Place in greased pans; let rise. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes.
