Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 3/4 c
  • butter - 1/2 c
  • shortening - 2 Tbsp
  • sifted flour - 2 c
  • light cream - 1/4 c
  • plus 2 Tbsp - 1/2 c
  • honey - 2 Tbsp
  • egg, beaten well - 1 item
  • yeast, dissolved in 2 Tbsp - 1 pkg

How to make honey buns:

Bring milk to boiling point; remove from heat. Add the 2 tablespoons sugar, shortening, salt, egg and yeast. Stir and mix well; turn out on well floured board and knead lightly until smooth. Cover and let stand 10 minutes.

Filling: Heat butter, the 1/2 cup sugar and honey. Remove from heat and add nuts and cream. Let cool. Roll out dough to 10 x 12 inches. Spread the filling over dough and roll up. Cut into 12 slices. Place in well buttered pan, cut side down. Drop any leftover filling on top. Cover and let rise 50 minutes in warm place. Bake in 400° oven 25 to 30 minutes.
