Ingredients/Components
- chocolate fudge cake mix - 1 item
- flour
- milk
- margarine - 1/2 c
- Crisco shortening - 1/2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- granulated sugar - 1 c
- unsweetened baking chocolate
- egg - 1 item
- powdered sugar
- warm water
How to make ho ho cake:
Filling Layer:5 Tbsp. flour1 1/4 c. milk1/2 c. margarine1/2 c. Crisco shortening1 tsp. vanilla1 c. granulated sugar Top Frosting:4 sq. unsweetened baking chocolate1 egg1 tsp. vanilla1 1/2 c. powdered sugar2 1/2 Tbsp. warm water Bake cake as directed on box in a jelly roll pan for 15 minutes. Set aside to cool.Filling Layer: In a saucepan, cook flour and milk until thick, stirring constantly. Set aside. In a mixing bowl, beat margarine, shortening, sugar and vanilla until fluffy. Add and beat in the milk and flour mixture that has cooled. Spread over cooled cake.
Top Frosting: Melt chocolate squares over low heat, then cool a little before adding powdered sugar, egg, vanilla, water and melted chocolate. Beat until smooth. Spread frosting over filling on cake.
It's best to make cake a day before serving. This is like Ho Ho's but in one layer cake form.
