Ingredients/Components
- butter - 1 Tbsp
- lean ground beef - 1 lb
- sliced carrots - 3/4 c
- sliced celery - 1 c
- diced onions - 1 c
- clove garlic, chopped - 1 item
- tomatoes - 1 c
- diced green peppers - 1/2 c
- canned hominy - 10 oz
- water with bouillon cubes MBT - 4 c
- cabbage if desired - 1 item
How to make hamburger soup:
Brown meat in butter in a 3-quart saucepan. Add onions, garlic, carrots, celery and green peppers. Simmer 10 minutes with the pan covered. Add beef broth or water with bouillon cubes. Add chopped tomatoes and pepper. Simmer soup on low heat for 35 minutes. Add hominy. Boil hamburger soup 10 minutes more.Recipe categories: Soups & stews, Clear soup, Main dish.
