Gingerbread
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking soda
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 1/2 c
- molasses - 1 c
- ginger - 1 tsp
- hot water - 1 c
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
- sifted all-purpose flour
How to make gingerbread:
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs; beat well. Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt. Combine molasses and water; add alternately with flour mixture to creamed mixture. Line an 8 x 8 x 2-inch greased pan with waxed paper. Pour in batter. Bake in moderate oven at 350° for 50 to 60 minutes. Cool 5 minutes. Remove from pan.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, < 60 mins.
