Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 3/4 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 2 Tbsp
  • water - 1 c
  • vinegar - 3/4 c
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • medium onion, diced - 1 item
  • celery seed - 1 tsp
  • bacon - 3 slices
  • cream optional - 1/4 c
  • large potatoes, cooked in jackets - 8 item

How to make german potato salad:

Peel and slice potatoes in bowl. Keep warm. Set aside. Brown bacon; remove from pan. Saute onion in bacon grease. Add flour and blend. Stir in vinegar, sugar, water, salt and pepper. Stir until thick like a white sauce. Add cream and bacon; pour over potatoes. Add celery seed while mixing.
