  • milk - 2/3 c
  • flour - 1/2 c
  • pepper to taste - 1 item
  • salt to taste - 1 item
  • Crisco for deep frying - 1 item
  • large onions - 2 lb

How to make french fried onions:

Cut cleaned onions into 1/4-inch slices. Separate into rings. Dip onion rings in milk and then in seasoned flour.

Fry in deep Crisco, heated to 365°. Fry rings, a few at a time, until well browned, about 3 minutes. Drain on absorbent paper.
