French breakfast puffs
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 1/3 c
- all-purpose flour
- butter or margarine, melted - 6 Tbsp
- ground cinnamon - 1 tsp
- ground nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
How to make french breakfast puffs:
Lightly grease 12 muffin cups; set aside. Stir together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg; set aside. In mixing bowl, cream together 1/2 cup sugar, shortening and egg. Add flour mixture and milk alternately to the creamed mixture, beating well after each addition. Fill prepared muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake in oven at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden. Remove from oven.Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Dip puffs in melted butter and then in cinnamon/sugar mix until coated. Serve warm. Makes 12.
Note: Sometimes it may take more melted margarine and cinnamon/sugar mixture.
