Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- salt - 2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- warm water - 1/2 c
- eggs, well beaten - 2 item
- dry yeast - 2 pkg
- milk, scalded and cooled - 2 c
- flour or enough to make a moderately stiff dough - 5 c
How to make feather bed rolls:
Melt shortening into milk while milk is hot. Dissolve yeast into water and add to cooled milk. Add sugar, salt and eggs; mix well. Add flour one cup at a time and knead until dough is stiff and elastic. Let stand 20 minutes. Roll out and cut into desired shape. Cover and let rise until double in size.
