Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • milk - 2 c
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • water - 1/2 c
  • baking soda - 1/4 tsp
  • unsifted flour - 6 c
  • cornmeal - 1 item
  • active dry yeast - 2 pkg

How to make english muffin loaves:

Combine 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt and soda. Heat liquids until very warm (120° to 150°). Add to dry mixture; beat well. Stir in rest of flour to make stiff batter. Spoon into 2 (8 1/2 x 4 1/2-inch) pans that have been greased and sprinkled with cornmeal. Cover. Let rise in warm place for 45 minutes. Bake at 400° for 25 minutes. Remove from pans immediately and cool.
