Dinner rolls
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- milk - 2 c
- salt - 2 tsp
- flour - 4 c
- shortening - 1 c
- yeast - 2 pkg
How to make dinner rolls:
Mix shortening, sugar and milk in large pot with cover. Let mixture heat until butter is melted; do not boil. Remove from heat; let stand until cool. Sift together flour and salt. Dissolve yeast with very lukewarm water. Add to cooled mixture the yeast, then add flour, stirring well and whip well for about 5 minutes. Cover and let rise for 2 hours, or until doubled. Use melted for rolls, when mixture has been kneaded well and cut out. Flap over each roll. Fold in half and place on greased baking pan.Prepared rolls should then be allowed to rise for 2 more hours, or you may cover with waxed paper and place in refrigerator until ready to use. Allow 2 hours to rise before baking. Remove waxed paper.
