Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 6 Tbsp
  • water - 3 c
  • peppercorns - 21 item
  • dill seed - 3/4 1
  • distilled white vinegar - 3 c
  • pickling cucumbers - 4 lb

How to make dill pickles:

Wash cucumbers thoroughly; cut in half lengthwise. Combine salt, vinegar and water. Heat to boiling. Pack cucumbers into clean, hot jars. Add 2 tablespoons dill seed and 3 peppercorns to each jar. Fill with boiling pickling syrup to within 1/2-inch from top of jar. Immediately seal and process in boiling water 10 minutes.

For kosher dills, peel 14 cloves garlic. Split in half. Add to water mixture. Remove after boils. Place 2 halves in each jar before sealing.
