  • water - 3 qt
  • vinegar - 6 c
  • clove garlic - 1 item
  • alum - 1/4 tsp
  • hot pepper optional - 1 item
  • early cukes spears wash stuff in jars - 1 item
  • head fresh dill in bottom - 1 item
  • coarse pickling salt - 1/3 c

How to make dill pickles:

Put dill in bottom, then spears. Make brine of vinegar, water and salt. Boil with dill. Top with lid; pack. Let stand for 6 weeks. Shake every little while.
