- sugar - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 2 c
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- all-purpose flour - 1/2 c
- egg, beaten - 1 item
- cornmeal - 2 c
- bacon drippings - 1/4 c
- pork cracklings - 2 c
How to make crackling cornbread:
Combine first 6 ingredients in a large bowl. Add buttermilk, egg and bacon drippings. Stir until dry ingredients are moistened. Spoon batter into a preheated, greased iron skillet and bake at 400° for 20 to 30 minutes.Recipe categories: < 60 mins, Breads, Time to make.
