- sugar - 1/2 c
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 3 tsp
- sifted flour - 1 c
- egg, well beaten - 1 item
- melted shortening - 1 Tbsp
- yellow corn meal - 1/2 c
How to make cornbread:
Mix and sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Stir in corn meal. Add milk to beaten egg and stir into first mixture. Add shortening and blend. Turn into shallow greased 8-inch pan. Bake in hot 400° oven for about 20 minutes.Recipe categories: Breads, Quick breads, Southern u.s..
