Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- water
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- small green pepper - 1 item
- garlic cloves, minced - 3 item
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- vegetable or olive oil - 1 Tbsp
- celery stalks - 2 item
- fresh collards - 4 lb
- smoked turkey parts - 1 lb
How to make collard greens:
Place turkey in Dutch oven with garlic. Add water. Cover. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, break off and throw away stems of collards. Wash leaves thoroughly. Slice into small pieces. Add collards, onion, celery, green peppers, sugar, oil, salt and pepper. Cook 30 to 60 minutes. Simmer until done.Recipe categories: Side dish, Greens, Collard greens.
