  • eggs - 5 item
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking powder
  • dash of salt - 1 item
  • plain flour - 2 c
  • Crisco - 1 c
  • hot water - 1/2 c
  • coconut flavoring
  • can Angel Flake coconut - 1 item
  • Sift flour and baking powder

How to make coconut pound cake:

Cream together Crisco and sugar; add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Sift flour and baking powder. Add dry ingredients, alternating with milk. Add flavoring and coconut. Pour into Bundt or tube pan and bake at 350° for 50 to 60 minutes.Topping Sauce:1 c. sugar1/2 c. hot water Let topping ingredients come to a boil and boil for 1 minute. Spoon over cake. Let the cake cool well before removing from pan. Keeps well for days.
