Ingredients/Components
- butter flavored Crisco - 1 c
- plain flour - 2 c
- coconut extract - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 5 item
- baking powder
- coconut - 1 c
- water - 1/2 c
How to make coconut pound cake:
Cream sugar and Crisco. Add eggs, one at a time, beating 2 minutes after each addition. Add extract, then the dry ingredients alternately with milk. Fold in coconut. Bake in greased and floured tube pan, starting in cold oven. Set thermostat at 350° when cake is put in oven. Bake 1 hour.Boil the last 3 ingredients for 1 minute exactly. Punch holes in top of cake with toothpick. Pour hot liquid over cake.
