Ingredients/Components
- 9-inch baked pie shell - 1 item
- cornstarch - 1/4 c
- sugar - 2/3 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- milk
- eggs, separated - 3 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- flaked coconut - 1 c
How to make coconut pie:
Mix the cornstarch, sugar, salt and egg yolks with 1/2 cup of the milk. Heat remaining 2 cups to boiling. Add the sugar mixture and cook until thick. Add coconut and vanilla. Pour in pie shell. Whip the three egg whites, adding 6 tablespoons sugar. Bake at 425° for 5 minutes or until brown.Recipe categories: Desserts, Pie, Pies and tarts.
