Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- salt - 1/4 c
- water - 1 c
- vinegar
- dry mustard - 1 Tbsp
- celery seed - 1 Tbsp
- cabbage - 1 qt
- turmeric - 1 Tbsp
- onions - 4 item
- hot peppers - 2 item
- sweet green peppers - 2 item
- sweet red pepper - 1 item
- green tomatoes - 1 qt
How to make chow chow:
Grind vegetables and salt. Let stand for 2 hours, then drain. Boil vinegar and spices 5 minutes. Add vegetables and cook slowly 30 to 40 minutes. Seal in hot sterile jars.Recipe categories: Condiments, etc., Vegetables, North american.
