Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • salt - 1/4 c
  • water - 1 c
  • vinegar
  • dry mustard - 1 Tbsp
  • celery seed - 1 Tbsp
  • cabbage - 1 qt
  • turmeric - 1 Tbsp
  • onions - 4 item
  • hot peppers - 2 item
  • sweet green peppers - 2 item
  • sweet red pepper - 1 item
  • green tomatoes - 1 qt

How to make chow chow:

Grind vegetables and salt. Let stand for 2 hours, then drain. Boil vinegar and spices 5 minutes. Add vegetables and cook slowly 30 to 40 minutes. Seal in hot sterile jars.
