Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- water - 3 c
- cocoa - 1/4 c
- self-rising flour - 3/4 c
- deep dish pie shells - 2 item
- can Pet evaporated milk - 1 oz
- extra large eggs, separated - 4 item
How to make chocolate pie:
Use double boiler. Beat egg yolks. Add sugar and mix. Add flour and cocoa. Mix. Add milk and water. Cook until thick. Stir occasionally. When thick, add vanilla. Pour into baked pie shells. Beat egg whites. Put on top of pie. Bake at 375° until golden. Makes 3 pies or 2 deep dish pies.Option: You may omit cocoa and add a heaping cup of coconut instead for coconut pies.
