Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 c
  • vanilla - 1/2 tsp
  • milk
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 4 Tbsp
  • butter - 2 Tbsp
  • egg yolks - 3 item
  • cocoa - 2 Tbsp

How to make chocolate pie:

Mix flour, sugar, cocoa and salt. Beat egg yolks; add milk and vanilla. Stir into first mixture. Add butter. Cook over medium-high heat until mixture thickens and begins to boil. Pour into a baked pie shell. Beat egg whites (gradually add 1/3 cup of sugar and 1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar). Beat mixture until stiff. Pile whites on pie. Spread and seal edges. Bake until lightly browned.
