Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 2 c
- cornstarch - 1/4 c
- egg yolks - 3 item
- cocoa - 2 Tbsp
- pinch of salt - 1 item
- egg whites - 3 item
- oleo - 1 tsp
- 8 1/2-inch baked pie shell - 1 item
How to make chocolate pie:
Combine sugar, oleo, cornstarch, cocoa, salt and milk. Cook in double boiler until it begins to thicken, stirring frequently. Then add slightly beaten egg yolks and cook until thick (or starts to boil). Remove from heat and add vanilla. Pour into baked pie shell. Beat egg whites until stiff. Add 3 tablespoons of sugar and spread this meringue over top of pie and brown in 325° oven. For larger pie (10-inch), double this recipe.Recipe categories: Desserts, Pie, Pies and tarts.
