Ingredients/Components

  • brown sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • allspice - 1/2 tsp
  • bay leaf - 1 item
  • can tomato sauce - 1 item
  • ground beef
  • cloves garlic - 3 item
  • wine vinegar - 1 Tbsp
  • onions, chopped - 3 item
  • can tomatoes - 1 item
  • thyme - 1/2 tsp
  • bacon, diced - 1/2 lb
  • or more chili powder - 1 tsp
  • pink or pinto beans - 3 c

How to make chili beans:

Soak beans overnight or cover with hot water and soak for 2 hours. Bring to boil and then add the bacon, brown sugar, thyme, half of the chopped onions and garlic. Simmer until beans are tender.

Brown meat and then add tomatoes and sauce, balance of onions, garlic, allspice, bay leaf, chili powder and wine vinegar. Simmer 1 hour. Combine both mixtures and continue to simmer until beans are done.
