Chicken noodle casserole
Ingredients/Components
- flour - 1/4 c
- margarine - 1/2 c
- chopped onion - 1 c
- chopped celery - 1 c
- cooked chicken - 4 c
- chicken broth - 2 c
- chopped green pepper - 1 c
- American cheese - 8 oz
- salt and pepper - 1 item
- noodles - 12 oz
- blanched almonds - 1/2 c
- olives - 1/2 c
- sliced mushrooms, drained - 8 oz
How to make chicken noodle casserole:
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish. Cook noodles according to directions; drain and mix with chicken. Melt butter; saute celery, onion and green pepper. Sprinkle with flour, gradually stir in broth until thickened. Season with salt and pepper; stir in cheese. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly; stir in olives and mushrooms. Pour over chicken and noodles. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes. Makes 10 to 12 servings. Can be prepared ahead and refrigerated.
