Chicken chow mein
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- cornstarch
- cold water - 1/4 c
- vegetable oil - 1/4 c
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- soy sauce - 3 Tbsp
- chicken broth - 2 c
- chow mein noodles - 1 item
- can bean sprouts, drained - 1 lb
- can water chestnuts, sliced - 1 oz
- medium onion, cut up - 1 item
- sliced, cooked chicken - 2 c
- diagonally sliced celery - 3 c
How to make chicken chow mein:
Heat oil, salt and pepper in deep skillet. Add celery, onion and water chestnuts and let fry for 5 minutes or so. Add bean sprouts and stir in chicken broth. Cook about 15 minutes. Blend cornstarch, water and soy sauce. Add to vegetable mixture and stir until mixture thickens. Add chicken. Heat through. Serve over hot chow mein noodles. Serves 4.
