Chicken chow mein
Ingredients/Components
- margarine - 1/4 c
- whole chicken breast, cooked - 1 item
- onions, chopped - 1 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- celery, chopped - 1/2 c
- green pepper, chopped - 1/2 c
- hot water - 1 c
- can chow mein vegetables - 1 item
- cold water
- cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
- sugar - 1 tsp
- soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
How to make chicken chow mein:
Thickening:1/3 c. cold water2 Tbsp. cornstarch1 tsp. sugar1 Tbsp. soy sauce Melt margarine in hot skillet. Add meat; stir and sear quickly (without browning or burning); add onions and fry for 5 minutes. Add celery, pepper, salt, pepper and hot water. Cover and cook for 5 minutes. Add drained vegetables. Mix thoroughly and heat to boiling point. Add thickening ingredients (mixed ahead of time). Stir lightly and cook 5 minutes. Serve over rice.Recipe categories: Chicken, Pasta, Main dish.
