Chop suey
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- butter - 1/4 c
- cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
- cold water
- hot water
- pepper - 1/16 tsp
- soy sauce - 2 tsp
- onion, chopped fine - 1 c
- celery, chopped fine - 2 c
- lean pork, cooked and chopped fine - 2 c
- can bean sprouts, drained, can use mixed Chinese vegetables - 1 item
How to make chop suey:
Flavoring and Thickening:2 Tbsp. cold water2 Tbsp. cornstarch2 tsp. soy sauce1 Tbsp. sugar Melt butter in hot pan. Add meat, sear quickly without browning. Add onions, saute 5 minutes. Add celery, salt, pepper and hot water. Cover and cook 5 minutes. Add vegetables. Mix and heat to boiling point. Add flavoring and thickening. Stir and cook 1 minute.
