Chicken and dumplings
Ingredients/Components
- chicken - 1 item
- stick margarine - 1/2 item
- Remove bones
- boiling water - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- pepper - 1 tsp
- flour - 1 item
How to make chicken and dumplings:
Boil chicken until tender. Remove bones. Add margarine to broth. Put chicken back into broth and bring to boil.Dumplings:1/2 c. Crisco1/2 c. boiling water1 tsp. salt1 tsp. pepper flour Mix shortening and water together until shortening is melted. Add 1 teaspoon pepper and 1 teaspoon salt. Add flour to make stiff dough. Roll out very thin. Cut into strips. Drop strips into boiling broth. Let dumplings cook a couple of minutes before adding more. Stir to keep from sticking. Turn heat down to gentle boil. Add milk. Add more butter, if desired. Cook until dumplings are tender, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.Recipe categories: Chicken, Main dish, Whole chicken.
