Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
  • brown sugar - 2 Tbsp
  • cornstarch - 4 tsp
  • chopped walnuts or almonds - 1/3 c
  • dash of ground cloves - 1 item
  • unsweetened apple juice - 1 c
  • to 4 drops red food coloring optional - 3 item
  • can tart cherries in water - 16 oz

How to make cherry sauce:

Mix sugar, cornstarch and spices in medium saucepan. Add apple juice, a little at a time to prevent lumps. Add food coloring. Cook over medium heat until mixture starts to boil and cook for 2 minutes more. Stir in cherries and nuts; heat through. Serve warm over pork or poultry.
