Cheesy scalloped potatoes
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 2 c
- butter or margarine - 1/4 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- all-purpose flour - 1/4 c
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- medium potatoes, sliced thin - 5 item
- shredded Cheddar cheese or Velveeta - 1/2 lb
- small onions yellow, sliced or minced - 2 item
How to make cheesy scalloped potatoes:
Preheat oven at 350°. In 2-quart saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Blend in flour. Add milk at once. Cook, stirring constantly, until slightly thickened. Add shredded cheese, salt and pepper. Continue cooking and stirring until cheese melts. Remove from heat. Spread 1/2 cheese sauce in bottom of a shallow 2 1/2-quart baking dish. Arrange potatoes and onions over cheese sauce. Then make layers with potatoes and onions, topping with remaining cheese sauce, spreading evenly. Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until potatoes are done.Recipe categories: Side dish, Potato, Cheese.
