Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 1-1/2 tsp
- soda - 1-1/2 tsp
- buttermilk - 1-1/2 c
- margarine or butter - 3/4 c
- white sugar - 3 c
- A few drops of almond extract - 1 item
How to make caramel icing:
Dissolve soda in buttermilk and cook slowly with sugar and butter. Cook until when tested mixture forms a soft ball. Cool. Add flavoring and beat. If icing becomes to hard, add a little hot water. Makes enough for 3 layer cake.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, Cake fillings and frostings.
