Ingredients/Components

  • vanilla - 1-1/2 tsp
  • soda - 1-1/2 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1-1/2 c
  • margarine or butter - 3/4 c
  • white sugar - 3 c
  • A few drops of almond extract - 1 item

How to make caramel icing:

Dissolve soda in buttermilk and cook slowly with sugar and butter. Cook until when tested mixture forms a soft ball. Cool. Add flavoring and beat. If icing becomes to hard, add a little hot water. Makes enough for 3 layer cake.
