Ingredients/Components

  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • brown sugar - 2 c
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • light corn syrup - 1/2 c
  • nuts optional - 1 item
  • butter not margarine - 1 c
  • large pans popped corn - 2 item

How to make caramel corn:

Melt the butter, stir in the brown sugar, corn syrup and salt. Stir constantly, bring to a boil and boil 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add baking soda and vanilla. It will bubble up.

Working quickly, pour over two large baking pans of popped corn. Stir to coat well. Bake at 250° for one hour. Stir every 15 minutes. Cool.

If using nuts, add them after pouring caramel over corn and stir well.
