Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 Tbsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- shortening - 4 Tbsp
- self-rising flour - 4 c
- hot water - 1 c
- yeast - 1 pkg
How to make buttermilk rolls:
Dissolve yeast in hot water and buttermilk. Add sugar and shortening. Blend in 2 cups flour until elastic. Add 2 more cups flour. Roll, cut and dip in hot butter. Fold as for a pocketbook. Place in a pan. Let rise until double in bulk (about 3 hours). Bake at 400° for 20 minutes. Rub butter on top of hot rolls.Recipe categories: Breads, Low cholesterol, Rolls/biscuits.
