Butterhorns
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- shortening - 1/2 c
- beaten eggs - 3 item
- yeast - 1 pkg
- milk, scalded - 1 c
How to make butterhorns:
Combine milk, shortening, sugar and salt; cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in water and add to other liquid; stir well. Add eggs, then flour. Mix to smooth soft dough. Knead lightly on floured surface. Place in greased bowl, cover and let rise until at least double. Divide in thirds, roll each on floured surface to 9-inch circle. Brush with melted butter. Cut in 12 to 16 wedges; shape pieces. Roll and brush with butter. Arrange on greased pans. Cover and let rise until very light. Bake at 400° for 15 minutes.From Grandma White.
