Bishop bread
Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- brown sugar
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- buttermilk - 3/4 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- flour, sifted
- egg, well beaten - 1 item
How to make bishop bread:
Add flour, brown sugar and salt. Cream with Crisco until mixture looks like a coarse meal. Reserve 3/4 cup mixture for topping, to remaining add the baking powder, cinnamon, soda and egg. Gradually add milk. Beat until smooth. Turn into greased and floured 8 x 8-inch or 8 x 12-inch pan. Sprinkle with topping. Bake at 400° for 25 minutes.
