  • sugar - 2/3 c
  • eggs - 3 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • chopped pecans - 3/4 c
  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • water - 5 Tbsp
  • baking powder - 3 tsp
  • shortening - 3/4 c
  • egg whites - 2 item
  • white sugar
  • white Karo syrup - 1 Tbsp

How to make butter pecan cake:

Frosting:3/4 c. white sugar3/4 c. brown sugar5 Tbsp. water2 egg whites1 Tbsp. white Karo syrup Cake: Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in bowl. Stir in shortening and 3/4 cup milk. Beat 2 minutes. Add eggs, remaining milk and vanilla. Beat 2 minutes. Stir in nuts. Bake 30 minutes at 325°.

Frosting: Beat over boiling water until desired consistency. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Frost cake and decorate with chopped pecans.
