  • slices bread - 10 item
  • shredded sharp cheese - 1 c
  • eggs, beaten - 6 item
  • milk - 2 c
  • brown sugar - 1 tsp
  • paprika to taste - 1 item
  • small whole onion, chopped fine - 1 item
  • pepper - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • dry mustard - 1/2 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1/2 tsp
  • cooked bacon, ham or cooked loose pork sausage - 1 c

How to make brunch casserole:

Twenty-four hours before serving, remove crust from bread; cube bread (older bread is better). In a mixing bowl, mix all other ingredients. In a buttered casserole dish (9 x 13-inch), layer bread, meat and cheese. Pour egg mixture over. Refrigerate overnight. Remove from refrigerator. Bring to room temperature. Bake 1 hour at 325°. Test for completion.
