Brunch casserole
Ingredients/Components
- slices bread - 10 item
- shredded sharp cheese - 1 c
- eggs, beaten - 6 item
- milk - 2 c
- brown sugar - 1 tsp
- paprika to taste - 1 item
- small whole onion, chopped fine - 1 item
- pepper - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- dry mustard - 1/2 tsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 1/2 tsp
- cooked bacon, ham or cooked loose pork sausage - 1 c
How to make brunch casserole:
Twenty-four hours before serving, remove crust from bread; cube bread (older bread is better). In a mixing bowl, mix all other ingredients. In a buttered casserole dish (9 x 13-inch), layer bread, meat and cheese. Pour egg mixture over. Refrigerate overnight. Remove from refrigerator. Bring to room temperature. Bake 1 hour at 325°.
