Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- water - 1/2 pt
- celery seed - 2 tsp
- white vinegar - 1 pt
- small cucumbers - 25 item
- mustard seed - 2 tsp
- pickling salt - 1/2 c
- red peppers - 2 item
- pickling onions - 10 item
- turmeric seed - 1/2 tsp
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Cut up vegetables into thick slices. Place in layers with salt. Allow to stand 3 to 4 hours, then drain. Mix remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Add vegetables and boil for 5 minutes. Place in hot jars and seal.Recipe categories: American, Condiments, etc., Vegetables.
