  • eggs - 3 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • water
  • soda
  • cocoa - 2/3 c
  • baking powder - 1/4 tsp
  • sifted flour
  • soft shortening - 2/3 c

How to make black midnight cake:

Cream together until fluffy the shortening, sugar and eggs. Beat 5 minutes at high speed on mixer or by hand. Sift together all dry ingredients. Mix in alternately with water and vanilla, using low speed on mixer. Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.
