Beef stroganoff
Ingredients/Components
- sour cream - 1 c
- butter or margarine - 2 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 4 Tbsp
- clove garlic - 1 item
- minced onion - 1/2 c
- tomato paste - 1 Tbsp
- thinly sliced mushrooms - 1 c
- cooking sherry - 2 Tbsp
- beef stock or 1 can condensed beef broth
- beef sirloin strips 1/4-inch - 1 lb
How to make beef stroganoff:
Combine 1 tablespoon flour and salt; dredge meat in mixture. Heat skillet; add 2 tablespoons butter. When melted, add meat and brown quickly, flipping meat to turn all sides. Add the mushrooms, onions and garlic. Cook 3 to 4 minutes until onions is barely tender. Remove meat and mushrooms from skillet. Add 2 tablespoons butter to pan drippings. When melted, blend in 3 tablespoons flour and tomato paste. Now slowly pour in the beef stock and cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. Return meat to the skillet; stir in the sour cream and sherry. Heat briefly. Serve with hot rice.Recipe categories: Main dish, Meat, Beef.
