Ingredients/Components

  • to 8 pork chops - 6 item
  • raw rice - 3/4 c
  • cans beef consomme - 2 item
  • medium onion, sliced thin - 1 item
  • salt - 1 item
  • flour - 1 item
  • oil or bacon fat - 1 item

How to make baked pork chops with rice:

First salt the chops and roll in flour, then brown lightly in small amount of oil or bacon fat in frypan; chops do not have to be thoroughly done at this stage. Then place rice in bottom of lightly buttered baking pan, spreading evenly.

Place chops on top of rice and lay onion slices on chops. Pour the consomme over all; cover tightly with foil, crimping edges to hold in moisture. Bake 1 hour at 350° in preheated oven; remove foil and serve. Good!

Note: Sweet pepper rings and tomato slices may be placed on chops along with onion rings, before baking.
