Baked lentils with cheese
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 2 tsp
- water - 2 c
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- cloves garlic, minced - 2 item
- sage - 1/8 tsp
- large onions, chopped - 2 item
- thinly sliced celery - 1/2 c
- marjoram - 1/8 tsp
- thyme - 1/8 tsp
- finely chopped parsley - 2 Tbsp
- canned tomatoes - 2 c
- green pepper, chopped optional - 1 item
- whole bay leaf - 1 item
- lentils, rinsed
- shredded Cheddar cheese - 3 c
- large carrots, sliced 1/8-inch thick - 2 item
How to make baked lentils with cheese:
Preheat oven to 375°. Combine first 11 ingredients in a shallow 9 x 13-inch dish. Cover tightly and bake 30 minutes. Uncover and stir in carrots and celery. Bake, covered, 40 minutes until vegetables are tender. Stir in green pepper and parsley. Sprinkle Cheddar cheese on top. Bake, uncovered, 5 minutes until cheese melts.
