Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 Tbsp
  • salt - 1 Tbsp
  • 3 oz - 1 lb
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • oregano - 2 tsp
  • basil - 1 tsp
  • parsley - 2 Tbsp
  • olive oil - 1 Tbsp
  • cans tomato paste - 2 oz
  • Ricotta cheese - 1 lb
  • clove garlic, chopped - 1 item
  • ground chuck - 1/2 lb
  • ground pork - 1/4 lb
  • Mozzarella - 1 lb
  • size pkg - 1/2 lb
  • jar Parmesan cheese - 1 oz

How to make baked lasagna:

Tomato Sauce:1/4 c. olive oil1/2 c. chopped onion1 clove garlic, chopped2 Tbsp. parsley1/2 lb. ground chuck1/4 lb. ground pork1 (2 lb. 3 oz.) can Italian tomatoes (undrained)2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste2 Tbsp. sugar1 Tbsp. salt2 tsp. oregano1 tsp. basil1/4 tsp. pepper Make Tomato Sauce: In 1/4 cup hot oil in Dutch oven, saute onion, garlic and parsley until onion is tender, about 5 minutes. Add meat and saute until well browned. Add tomatoes, paste, sugar, 1 tablespoon salt, oregano, basil and pepper. Mix. Mash tomatoes with fork. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer, covered and stirring occasionally, for 3 hours.

In large kettle, bring 3 quarts water and 1 teaspoon salt to boil. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add noodles, 2 or 3 at a time. Return to boiling. Boil, uncovered, stirring occasionally, about 15 minutes. Drain; rinse. Preheat oven to 350°. Grease 13 x 9 x 2-inch dish. Spoon sauce in dish; layer noodles, Ricotta, Mozzarella, tomato sauce and Parmesan. Repeat until done. Bake, uncovered, 45 to 50 minutes or until cheese is melted. Let stand 10 to 15 minutes before cutting. Makes 9 servings.
