Ingredients/Components
- granulated sugar - 3/4 c
- firmly packed brown sugar - 1/4 c
- all-purpose flour - 2 Tbsp
- ground cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
- ground nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- salt - 1/8 tsp
- 6 c - 2 lb
- light cream or milk - 1/4 c
- butter or margarine - 3 Tbsp
- water - 1/4 c
- shortening - 3/4 c
How to make apple pie:
Crust (Double):2 c. all-purpose flour1 tsp. salt1/4 c. water3/4 c. shortening Mix ingredients for double crust. Roll out 2 pie crusts.Mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, nutmeg, flour, cinnamon and salt.
Spread 1/3 apples into pastry shell; sprinkle with 1/3 seasoning mixture. Repeat layering 2 more times. Pour cream or milk into center. Dot with butter or margarine. Add top layer of crust. Bake at 400° for 50 minutes, or until juices bubble up. Cool one hour.
