  • salt - 2 tsp
  • baking powder - 4 tsp
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • vegetable oil - 3/4 c
  • all-purpose flour - 6 c
  • warm water - 1 c
  • dry yeast - 1 pkg
  • buttermilk, at room temperature - 2 c

How to make angel biscuits:

Heat oven to 450°. Dissolve yeast in warm water with 1 teaspoon of the sugar. Let set until bubbly. Sift flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, salt and soda together into a large mixing bowl. Add yeast mixture, oil and buttermilk; mix well.

Take out as much dough as needed. Put on lightly floured board. Make out the biscuits to be baked and put in a greased pan. Brush tops with melted butter. Bake 10 to 12 minutes, until golden brown.

Cover the remainder of the dough tightly and refrigerate. It requires no rising.

This is a good basic dough for cinnamon rolls.
