Ingredients/Components
- all-purpose flour - 1 c
- warm water - 1 c
- sugar - 1/2 c
- yeast - 1 Tbsp
- oil
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- eggs - 3 item
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- nuts and raisins, mixed - 1 c
- melted butter
- brown sugar - 1/2 c
- quick oats - 1/2 c
How to make amish friendship bread:
Coffee Cake:2/3 c. oil1 tsp. vanilla1 c. sugar2 c. all-purpose flour1/2 tsp. baking soda1 1/4 tsp. baking powder1/2 tsp. salt3 eggs1 tsp. cinnamon1 c. nuts and raisins, mixed Topping:1/3 c. melted butter1/2 c. sugar1/2 c. brown sugar2 tsp. cinnamon1/2 c. quick oats Starter: Mix all ingredients in a glass bowl. Cover loosely with lid or plate. Let stand in warm place; stir each day. On the fifth and tenth days, add 1 cup flour, 1 cup milk and 1 cup sugar, then remove 2 cups Starter for restarting. (Keep 1 cup for yourself and give 1 cup to a friend.)Coffee Cake: To remaining Starter, combine all batter ingredients, mixing well. Pour 1/2 the batter into greased and floured loaf pans (or one 9 x 13-inch pan).
Topping: Mix streusel topping and pour 1/2 of it over the batter. Add remaining batter, the remaining streusel and bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes, until the cake tests done.
