Ingredients/Components
- self-rising flour - 4 c
- soda - 3/4 tsp
- sugar - 2 Tbsp
- shortening - 3/4 c
- cakes yeast - 2 item
- water - 3 Tbsp
- buttermilk
How to make yeast biscuits:
Mix first 3 ingredients well. Add shortening. Mix well by hand. Dissolve 2 cakes yeast in 3 tablespoons warm water. Add this and 1 3/4 cups buttermilk to flour. Mix well. Store in airtight container in refrigerator. When ready to use, roll as for biscuits. Let rise 1 hour. Bake at 450° for 8 to 10 minutes.Recipe categories: Breads, Rolls/biscuits, Yeast breads.
