Ingredients/Components

  • salsa - 1 item
  • can tomato sauce - 1 oz
  • can stewed tomatoes - 1 lb
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • tomato, chopped - 1 item
  • Cheddar cheese, shredded - 1 lb
  • taco seasoning - 1 pkg
  • flour tortillas - 1 item
  • can green chilies - 1 oz
  • lettuce, chopped - 1 item

How to make tijuana torte:

Brown beef and onion; drain. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, chilies and taco seasoning. Simmer 10 to 15 minutes. Place 1/4 to 1/2 cup mixture in bottom of greased 9 x 13-inch pan or glass baking dish. Place a layer of tortillas on top of meat, then add more meat mixture, then cheese. Layer tortillas 3 times with meat and cheese. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until cheese is bubbly. Top with lettuce, tomato and salsa.
