Ingredients/Components

  • salt
  • water - 2 c
  • vinegar - 1 Tbsp
  • chili powder - 3 Tbsp
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • can tomato soup - 1 lb
  • ground cumin - 1 tsp
  • black pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • pinto beans, cooked or 1 can Ranch or chili beans - 2 c

How to make texas red chili:

In a Dutch oven or large pot, brown ground beef and onion. Drain off fat; add vinegar and seasonings and stir well. Add tomato sauce, beans and water. Simmer over low heat 30 minutes. If you prefer thick chili, put 2 tablespoons cooking starch into 1/2 cup water; mix well and stir into chili. Good served with Longhorn cheese, apple and Pan de Lote. Serves 4.
