Texas red chili
Ingredients/Components
- salt
- water - 2 c
- vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- chili powder - 3 Tbsp
- ground beef - 1 lb
- can tomato soup - 1 lb
- ground cumin - 1 tsp
- black pepper - 1/2 tsp
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- pinto beans, cooked or 1 can Ranch or chili beans - 2 c
How to make texas red chili:
In a Dutch oven or large pot, brown ground beef and onion. Drain off fat; add vinegar and seasonings and stir well. Add tomato sauce, beans and water. Simmer over low heat 30 minutes. If you prefer thick chili, put 2 tablespoons cooking starch into 1/2 cup water; mix well and stir into chili. Good served with Longhorn cheese, apple and Pan de Lote.
